I drive 196 miles a day.
I am clearly not well in the head. How can I be? I've been doing this now for 3+ years.
Ok, to be fair, I do not drive 196 miles EVERY day, just the days I commute to work. I'm averaging 50,000 miles a year.
Whenever I tell anybody this, they look at me with a combination of disbelief & awe. "You poor bastard." I'm positive this is what they all think as they shake their heads.
So here's what I've learned in 170,000 miles:
- Highway driving is better than non-highway, stop & go driving
- But not by much
- People suck
- People who get in the left lane & stay there suck
- Deer scare the hell out of me
- Satellite radio sucks
- Driving in snow sucks
- My ass hurts
Important lessons all.
Am I lucky to have a job & should just shut the hell up about my sorry-ass commute? Yes. But what fun would that be?
